Waste Collection Permits
Any business or individual collecting waste in Ireland needs a Collection Permit from the NWCPO
A ‘Waste Collection Permit’ is a legal requirement for any person or business engaged in collecting waste for profit or reward. To collect waste without a permit is a criminal offense under the Waste Management Act of 1996.
The permit imposes a list of conditions on the person/business which they must comply with as part of their waste collection activity. These conditions are designed to ensure waste is collected in an environmentally friendly way and movements of waste are tracked.
I help my clients apply for and renew their waste collection permits and to date has worked with over 300 waste collectors across all sectors of the industry. Each home, business, school, and factory create waste that needs to be collected and transported for recovery or disposal. The variety of waste type requires a multitude of operators to provide collection services. Previous examples of collectors I have worked with include:
- Household and Commercial Kerbside Waste Collectors
- Builders and Plant Hire Providers
- Construction and Demolition Waste Hauliers
- Skip Hire Providers
- End-of-Life Vehicle/ Recovery businesses
- Septic Tank Cleaners
- Grease Trap Servicing
- Waste Tyre Collectors
- Agricultural Plastic Recyclers
- Scrap Metal Haulage and Exporters
- Hazardous Waste Collectors
- WEEE Recyclers
My service is as simplified for the applicant and take approximately 8 to 10 weeks. Applicants provide some basic information and get a few declarations signed. From there, I will apply for a permit to suit that suits your requirements. While the application is being processed by the NWCPO, applicants complete online training which ensures they have all the requisite knowledge so they can hit the ground running when their permit is granted.
