A waste collection permit is valid for a period of 5 years from the date on which it is granted.
Fees are based on the number of local authority areas in which the applicant proposes to collect waste. Renewal applications receive a 50% discount on fees provided their renewal application is submitted prior to the expiry of the current permit.  A permit which covers all 32 local authority areas will incur one off fees of €5000 (€2500 renewal)  A permit which covers a waste region (a group of local authorities) will incur fees of €2000 (€1000 renewal) per region.  A permit which covers a single local authority are will incur fees of €1000 (€500 renewal)
Yes. Soil and stone is a waste and makes up 85% of the 9 million tonnes of construction and demolition waste generated in Ireland each year. A valid waste collection permit is required to collect waste soil and stone.
No. Waste Collection Permits are granted to a legal entity (eg. limited company, person, partnership etc.) All vehicles used by the permit holder to collect waste are added onto this single permit. New vehicles an also be added to an existing permit.
As part of the ‘fit and proper person’ requirement detailed in section 34D of the Waste Management Act 1996 (as amended) permit holders and their staff are required to have requisite technical knowledge or qualifications to carry out the waste activity. This obligation can be met by attending a 1-day training course for waste collection permit holders. An online course is included as part of the application service provided by Sherwin Environmental.

On average, the application process takes between 8-12 weeks.

Gary will always endeavour to ensure your permit is granted as soon as possible. Applications must take a minimum of 40 working days (NWCPO requirement) but can sometimes take longer if further information is required.

Yes, Northern registered companies can apply for a permit to collect waste in the South.
